Johnathan Miller is a Senior Advisor to the Kyle House Group and serves as President of Bluemont International, an international strategic advisory firm, specializing in Africa and Asia. Most recently, Mr. Miller served from 2018-2021 as the Africa Regional Director for the United States Peace Corps, where he was responsible for overseeing Peace Corps programs in 26 countries across the Africa continent.
Prior to Bluemont, Mr. Miller served for seven years as Partner and Managing Director of The Brock Group, an international trade strategic counseling firm chaired by former United States Trade Representative Bill Brock. In that capacity, Mr. Miller developed a large Asia-Pacific practice. Among the numerous clients he advised on how to capitalize on overseas business opportunities were a prominent U.S. aerospace firm, several major global consumer goods companies, two of the world’s largest beverage companies, several major U.S. and foreign air carriers, a leading manufacturer of fuel additives, and a provincial government in China.
A specialist in international aviation, Mr. Miller has counseled a major U.S. aerospace corporation on a multi-billion dollar joint venture in Taiwan and has advised a large international air carrier on expanding its landing rights in the United States. He has represented four major U.S. airlines in a dispute between the United States and United Kingdom and has provided governmental and political counseling to an international air cargo company on the development of its Asia hub. In other global trade matters, he has helped secure two of the first distilled spirits joint ventures in India and has advised several multi-national companies on World Trade Organization (WTO) accession issues concerning both China and Taiwan.
Previously, Mr. Miller held several high-level positions in the U.S. government during the Reagan administration. As Senior Director at the National Security Council, Mr. Miller coordinated President Reagan’s foreign missions, including the first Reagan Gorbachev Summit in Geneva and the President's visits to Indonesia, the Tokyo Economic Summit, Mexico, and Grenada. Mr. Miller also oversaw the coordination of all visits to the United States by visiting heads of state, including the Prime Ministers of Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Later, as Deputy Assistant to the President for Management and Administration, Mr. Miller bore chief responsibility for the management of the entire Executive Office of the President.
Mr. Miller also held multiple international assignments both in Washington and abroad. These positions included Deputy Coordinator of the Office for Public Diplomacy in Latin America and the Caribbean, Special Assistant to the Deputy Administrator at the Agency for International Development, Peace Corps Director in Botswana and Chief of Staff to Congressman William Goodling of Pennsylvania.
In his earlier Washington career, Mr. Miller was Deputy Political Director to George Bush's 1980 Presidential campaign, liaison for Vice President-elect Bush during the 1980 presidential transition, and, later, a member of the Transition Team for President elect George H.W. Bush.
